About StephanieStephanie Ellis is a photographer based in Los Angeles whose work has been published in magazines including Smithsonian, Forbes FYI, Travel & Leisure, Cigar Aficionado, Los Angeles Magazine, Elle Decor, Entertainment Weekly, and U.S. News & World Report. Stephanie began shooting pictures at age five after becoming fascinated watching her Mom print her own black and white pictures in their home darkroom. After earning her B.F.A. in photography from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, she assisted several top New York City art and advertising photographers including William Wegman before starting her own business. Her photographs of the Dayak Indians in Borneo, Indonesia were featured in two shows at the Gulf and Western Gallery in New York City, including a solo show in 1992. Stephanie was one of 99 photographers invited to the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop in 1991, under the supervision of National Geographic's photography director, Tom Kennedy. Work shot on assignment in Egypt for Forbes FYI magazine was a part of a collection of 50 images by 21 Forbes photographers, in the fall 2000 exhibit: Picturing the Good Life: A Decade of Photography in Forbes fyi at the Forbes Magazine Galleries in New York City, and is a part of the permanent Forbes Collection. After working from New York City for five years as an editorial photographer shooting mostly worldwide travel assignments, she moved to Los Angeles and began shooting advertising and fashion work for clients including Laura Ashley, Avon Cosmetics, A&M Records, and Warner Brothers. She now shoots advertising, editorial, and a limited number of weddings annually. |
